Professor Kevin G. F. Thomas
Professor Kevin G. F. Thomas is the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Pretoria and a respected scholar in neuropsychology.
Professor Thomas has a distinguished academic background. He holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Arizona, an MA in Clinical Psychology from the University of Southern California, and a BA in Psychology from Harvard University. After completing a clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology at the University of Florida, he took a position in the Department of Psychology at the University of Cape Town. He was a founding member of UCT’s Applied Cognitive Science and Experimental Neuropsychology Team (ACSENT), attained the status of Full Professor in the UCT Department of Psychology, and served two terms as Head of Department.
Professor Thomas’s research in neuropsychology has made significant contributions to the field. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and secured prestigious grants from the National Research Foundation of South Africa, the Medical Research Council of South Africa, and US National Institutes of Health.
Professor Thomas is also deeply committed to mentorship, having supervised numerous Honours, Master’s, and PhD students. He is an active member of professional associations in his field and recently co-founded the African Neuropsychology Network, an association of clinicians and researchers dedicated to fostering the growth of neuropsychology across the continent.
