Allucia Lulu Shokane
Lulu Shokane (nee’ Nkosi) is the Interim Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zululand, where she was previously the Deputy Dean of Research, Innovation and Internationalisation. Lulu is a Professor of Social Work. She holds a doctoral degree in Social Work from University of Johannesburg (UJ), South Africa. Her research interests include among others; the broad field of Social Work and Community Development; critical and radical social work, decolonised methodologies, indigenous knowledge and practices within context of community development; asset-oriented community-led development (ABCD) – thus specific to social sciences and humanities education.
She was the Vice-President of the Association of South African Social Work Education Institutions (ASASWEI) between 2019-2021. Lulu was a regional Mentor for the National Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences (NIHSS) responsible for Kwa-Zulu Natal regional doctoral schools capacity initiatives. Lulu also serves as a member of the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf) Standing Committee on Humanities. She is a Rated Researcher by the National Research Foundation (NRF). Furthermore, she is the Editor in Chief of Inkanyiso: Journal of African Thought.
